Maria Hespanhol, was born in 1979, studied at Soares dos Reis Art School, in Porto, and completed her training at the School of Arts at the Católica University in Porto.
In 2003 moved to Barcelona where she started working on advertising.
Since 2013 she’s living in Lisbon developing several projects related with cinema and publicity.
In 2019 started to explore some ceramic techniques and this activity was a way of working with her hands without technological support, thus reconciling cinema with ceramics.
In 2020, with the confinement, dedicated himself more seriously to ceramics, producing more frequently while she was withdrawn in the Melides area.
Mia Agá pieces are unique original handmade and hand painted, so the work is nicely slow.
Our inspiration goes from ancient greek art and mythology to fauvism movement and also some major artists like Picasso, Matisse, Rousseau...
We work between Lisbon and Melides so the connection with the sea breeze it's intense. There's a nature and ocean direct influence that brings us all this fresh and bright colours.
